Careers

Careers staff

The CEIAG provision at Ecclesbourne School is mapped against the CDI Framework and the Gatsby Benchmarks. Our provision is reviewed annually by the Director of CEIAG.

Gatsby Benchmarks:

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

Individual Careers Guidance

From Year 10 students are able to have an individual careers appointment with an independent advisor. SEND students all receive an appointment from Year 9 prior to their annual review. Other students may request an appointment or be guided to one by their Head of Year or Form Tutor.

Appointments are prioritised for students in Year 11 and Year 13 seeking advice and guidance on their next step pathways. At the meeting an action plan will be drawn up and a copy emailed to the student to help them move forward with their plans.

To arrange a careers appointment contact Mrs Parker.

HOW DO WE MEASURE AND ASSESS OUR CAREERS PROVISION

The school uses the Compass online self-evaluation tool to monitor how our careers support compares against the Gatsby Benchmarks and the national average.

The Career Mark Award presents the opportunity to evaluate our provision for CEIAG. The school has achieved the award for 11 years and this year the school’s careers programme was awarded the Careers Mark ‘Platinum’ Award. The award confirms that we fully meet the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, which are a requirement for all schools to achieve. The assessor made the following comment about the school’s careers provision:

"It was clear to the assessor that there is a positive and well-established CEIAG programme in place which is ably managed and carefully delivered. This is making a real impact upon students who can demonstrate the self-development, exploration and management skills they will need to make successful transitions.&quit;

Destinations Data
