Why join us?
The Ecclesbourne School aims to provide a first-class education in a happy, well-ordered and purposeful atmosphere. We are a non-selective school and committed to an inclusive community ethos. We challenge all our learners to achieve their best.
Our success depends on the people we employ. We expect every member of staff to strive for continuous improvement to make our school even better. Our teaching and support staff work very hard, and we want them all to find The Ecclesbourne School a rewarding environment in which to work.
"Learning together for the future" means that everyone who studies or works at The Ecclesbourne School is encouraged to broaden their experience and to be a lifelong learner. We employ ambitious people who want to progress and we support and encourage them to do so. All staff are given the opportunity to access the training and support they need.
What is our School like?
At the core of all that we do is our school motto ‘Integrity, tenacity, service.’ Our aim is to find and nurture the abilities and talents of every child so that Ecclesbournians become caring, confident and fulfilled young adults well prepared for the challenges and opportunities life has to offer. Central to this are student involvement in the House and prefect systems through which all our students feel valued and learn to value others as part of a real school community.
Our vision statement ‘learning together for the future’ is evident throughout the school. There is a focused atmosphere conducive to excellent learning, an engaging and broad curriculum and an extensive range of enrichment activities. Consequently, our students are well behaved, highly motivated and achieve very high academic standards.
What we look for
We employ a wide range of talented, well-qualified people capable of delivering a high standard of education and support for our students. You must be passionate about the power of education to improve the quality of life and the life chances of young people, driven to achieve better results through determination and commitment and motivated to work in partnership with everyone in the School.
We offer work experience and volunteer opportunities, which are unpaid, within teaching and support staff areas for those interested in gaining knowledge of a School environment or interested in teacher training.
What our staff say
"Since joining the school in September, I have felt extremely welcomed by both my faculty and wider colleagues. There is a strong team player ethos and an open door policy means that help is always on hand when needed.
The behaviour of students is excellent and my classes have been a pleasure to teach. As they leave the classroom, students say ‘thank you’; this doesn’t happen in every school. The students are rightly pushed to achieve academic excellence but there is also a strong sense of encouraging them to realise their full potential through the wide range of enrichment activities on offer. The recent house plays are a perfect example of this; students from every year group collaborated to produce outstanding results and it is only too clear that they have a great sense of pride in belonging to a particular house. In terms of the induction programme, I have found it useful in the sense that I have been able to attend those sessions that I felt would be of most benefit. This was particularly useful at the start of the term when I had to get to grips with new systems."
"During my first term at The Ecclesbourne School, I’ve have felt extremely welcomed by staff and students alike. The department that I work in have been beyond supportive and encourage me to be the best teacher that I can possibly be. The Ecclesbourne School inspires pride in its students through presentation, attitude and extra-curricular events. I have never know a school take so much delight in organised student-centred activities that, ultimately, boost the students’ ideologies. Recently, the House Plays have shone light on the talented community of students and their personal drive to produce a performance that represents their working ethic as a school; these were a pleasure to watch. As an NQT, I have found the induction programme to be useful in finding out about different members of staff, key information for school life, and communicating with colleagues. There is a structured programme for NQT students that has allowed me to work independently and in correlation with my mentor on my upcoming goals. I feel confident and self-assured with the mentor that I have for my NQT year at The Ecclesbourne School. Rosie goes above and beyond every day to ensure that I am organised, happy and feeling involved in the school’s community. This has been an integral part of my first term and motivates me to produce high quality lessons, assessments and scheme of work for all key stages. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term at The Ecclesbourne School and I hope that it will be the first of many in an enjoyable career."
At The Ecclesbourne School we value our staff and recognise the on-going contributions they make to the continued success of the whole school. School staff juggle many different tasks and demands, it is important that everyone is given the right emotional and practical support so that they can, in turn support our students. Our well-being aim is to:
-
Develop and sustain a healthy, supportive working environment that brings out the best in people.
-
Enable individuals to pro-actively manage their own well-being and personal effectiveness
-

-
