We are seeking a dedicated, inspiring, and enthusiastic Teacher of Design and Technology with a specialist focus on Resistant Materials to join The Ecclesbourne School. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and ambitious teacher to instil a love of design, practical problem-solving, and technical craftmanship in our students. The successful candidate will join the technology faculty at a pivotal moment in its development. We are experiencing a sustained increase in student uptake, and our commitment to technology is underscored by the construction of a brand new, state-of-the-art technology block, scheduled to begin within the next two years.

The Role:
As a key member of our Design & Technology faculty, you will:

Deliver engaging, challenging, and high-quality lessons in Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a specialist focus on Resistant Materials.

Deliver engaging, challenging, and high-quality lessons in Engineering across Key Stage 4.

Experience of, or enthusiasm to teach Product Design, at A-level.

Plan and deliver creative lessons that develop students’ practical skills, creativity, and critical thinking, from initial design concepts to finished products.

Use a range of assessment methods to track student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them achieve their full potential.

Maintain a safe, well-organised, and inspiring workshop environment, ensuring all health and safety regulations are met.

Contribute to rich extracurricular programmes, such as STEM clubs, design workshops, or exhibition projects.

Work collaboratively with a passionate team to continue developing an innovative and inclusive curriculum.
What We Are Looking For:
The successful candidate will:
-
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree, e.g. in Design & Technology, Product Design, or a related field.

Have strong subject knowledge in Resistant Materials, and ideally Engineering, including the use of tools, equipment, and workshop practices.

Demonstrate a passion for teaching and the ability to inspire students of all abilities
-
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Be a team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable:

Experience with CAD/CAM software.

Ability to teach an additional material area such as textiles.
