Chair's Introduction

Welcome to The Ecclesbourne Foundation. We were established more than 15 years ago in order to improve the fabric of the school buildings, without using the schooI’s capital funds. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to share your expertise with us in the Foundation, where we work as a social enterprise to help local companies raise the profile of their businesses whilst supporting the education of our children. If you would like to join us, please get in touch. Or if you run a local business, and want to help sponsor an event; activity; or school purchase we would like to hear from you. We are currently working with The Ecclesbourne School’s 60th Anniversary Committee to raise funds for the regeneration of Jubilee Court area last developed in 1977. Students’ designs are being developed to help determine the final design. If you can help us to complete this project, please contact the Community Liaison Officer.

The Objectives of, The Ecclesbourne Foundation

The Ecclesbourne Foundation was established in 2001 as a registered charity with a broad remit to further the education of children attending the Ecclesbourne School, Duffield in Derbyshire. It was created following a decision by the Governors that action was needed to improve facilities at the School. It is managed by a group of Trustees, which include parents and friends and members of the School’s Strategic Leadership Team.

Its principal activities are concerned with fund-raising as clearly little progress can be made towards improving facilities without substantial amounts of capital. It coordinates its plans with the Parents, Staff and Friends Association and with the students to provide an annual programme of fund-raising events. It also seeks to establish partnerships with local companies who provide sponsorship in return for links with our School which is nationally recognised for excellence.

Fund Raising:

  1. Sponsorship Deals
  2. Gift Aid
  3. Donations
  4. The School Shop
  5. Become a Trustee

If any company wishes to develop their ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ credentials and raise their profile with the community, please contact the Community Liaison Officer on 01332 843267

Sponsorship Deals

Over the years we have been successful in attracting sponsorship for both curriculum enrichment and Companies who are interested in promoting their Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility portfolio and have reaped considerable good publicity, for example by having their logo on the School Mini Bus and on our new Sponsor Board. Sports team colours with company brands are also a good way of raising a company’s image. Our School has both local and national players and have been very successful at all levels.

Your ideas will be appreciated and can be considered by Trustees and Governors to fit your time scale.

If you are interested in supporting the School, please call the Community Liaison Office (01332 843267) to make an appointment at School or at your Company’s office. Our sponsorship policy can be downloaded by clicking on this link: Sponsorship Policy

Gift Aid

Gift aid is one of the most useful cost effective ways the Foundation can raise funds. It is very tax effective and the Foundation can recover 25p for every £1.00 that is donated. It allows the Foundation to use the monthly donations to invest the funds on a regular basis in high yield accounts and plan effectively the strategies to support the School in its quest to improve the facilities for the students and the local community.

Pamphlets explaining how to GIFT AID are available in the visitors waiting area. All contributions are acknowledged and appreciated.

Single donations by individuals or companies are a way of expressing thanks for a quality education or to give the next generation of students an enrichment and you are clearly investing in future generations.

Current Fund Raising projects for 2016/17/18:

  • Sponsor a seat in the new E Block hall. The new building was officially handed over in 2016 and the Trustees decided to fund raise and give individuals and companies the opportunity to sponsor a seat in the hall and have their names on a sponsor board. This fund raising project is still open to individuals and companies. The 10-year sponsorship deal costs only £100……
  • The latest project is to redevelop a social space for students called Jubilee Court. This social space was last developed in 1977, (The old plaque is still there) since that time due to major building works the area has become dilapidated and drainage has become a problem. A campaign to raise student awareness has been undertaken with power point presentations to the School Council and in Assemblies and working with a Year 8 form developing their ideas for this social space. The Foundation has provided an initial £5000 to undertake enabling works but considerable new funding is required to complete the project by 2018, the 60th anniversary of our school’s opening. Using design ideas from students we hope to transform the area to make a very pleasant social space with seating, planting and canopies. We hope to use it for fund raising with past student events including outdoor entertainment, musical events, hog roasts and PSFA events. If you were a student in 1977 the Foundation would like you to contact them to see if you would like a reunion in June 2018. We are also considering a company sponsorship Plaque in Jubilee Court, all interested companies and past students please contact the Community Liaison office on 01332 843267 or email
