Course Overview

This Art and design course specialises in the use and creation of textiles encouraging learners to develop skills, creativity, imagination, and independent practice based on personal experience, taught skills, and critical understanding. Learners show this through their responses to a range of stimuli.

This course is flexible for university entry for many degrees in a very wide variety of subjects as the skills taught across the A Level are transferable and highly in demand, skills such as creative thinking and critical analysis are valued highly by employers. It is a desirable for anyone wanting a career within the creative arts, Textiles, fashion, buying, design, trend forecasting and analysis and many more. It provides a good route to foundation and degree courses and students have a portfolio/sketchbook which they can take to interviews.

Expertise, support, and guidance are on hand to always support the learners. The course is 60% Personal investigation, responding to their own context and a related study (essay) and 40% externally set task, responding to an externally set context.

Entry Requirements:

5 GCSES 4-9 or A*-C to include Maths and English Lang or Lit Grade 5; GCSE Textiles Grade 5 is desirable
