Learning Together For The Future

Sixth Form Introduction

Thank you for taking the time to look at our Sixth Form. Ecclesbourne School has a Sixth Form of nearly 400 students. The majority of our existing Year 11 students stay on, joined by a number of students from other schools.

The Sixth Form has an excellent record of academic success and students can achieve qualifications for employment and for entry into further and higher education. The Department for Education’s higher education destination data (July 2012) lists us as one of the top 10 non selective schools/colleges with the highest proportion of students going on to study at a Russell Group university (including Oxbridge).

There is a very well developed system of guidance for careers and entry into Higher Education and an extensive tutor programme including progress tracking through RATS (Record of Achievements and Targets). The majority of our students go on to University at the end of Year 13, some after taking a gap year out beforehand.

In the most recent Ofsted Inspection, our ‘Outstanding’ Sixth Form received the following endorsement:

"Students in the sixth form have excellent attitudes to learning and effectively build on the skills developed through the main school to become highly articulate and confident individuals who are exemplary role models for the younger students."
