In April our Year 7 students were delighted to welcome author Fleur Hitchcock into school. Fleur has written 13 children’s books and treated the students to an exciting insight into the world of becoming a successful published author. She discussed her central themes of crime and everyday life. Fleur explained how she incorporates real life situations into her stories through an acute sense of observation and her magpie like skills in gathering jewels of information. Her wish to become a children’s author was born out of her sense of boredom when young and a desire for adventure. As Fleur said ‘reading and writing provides everyone with the perfect opportunity to escape and explore’
