The Kids’ Lit Quiz is an International competition run by Professor Wayne Mills, where schools get to compete in “The Sport of Reading”.
In November Ecclesbourne attended the East Midlands heat with two teams. Our book group sessions before the quiz were spent furiously revising and testing our knowledge by doing mini quizzes in groups.
There were 10 rounds, each with 10 questions; along with audience and student spot prizes between the rounds. The questions varied from poetry to classics and ranged in difficulty. We also had the opportunity to score double points on a nominated joker round. Our teams chose legends and popular culture. Both teams won a round and were rewarded with book prizes and certificates.
Great fun was had by all and after a tightly fought competition our teams were placed 7th and 8th. Congratulations to the winning team, Lady Manners School Bakewell.
There was also the opportunity to meet guest author Dan Walker and purchase signed copies of his books Sky Thieves and Desert Thieves.
