Here you will find various guides & solutions for technical problems with our Work From Home system, Talmos, etc.
If you are experiencing difficulties and cannot find a solution on our knowledge base then for further help please email ithelp@ecclesbourne.derbyshire.sch.uk and we will try our best to offer a solution. Please try to include as much detail of your issue as possible, and in particular the text of any error, it is also helpful if you can paste a screenshot of the computer at the point where you are having difficulties. On a PC to screenshot press the 'printscreen' button on your keyboard and then you can paste the image into an email.

Problem: User receives "File could not be downloaded" error when downloading attachments from the timetable on the VLE. User is browsing with Internet Explorer 9. Solution: Allow encrypted pages to be saved to disk.
Problem: Talmos navigation bars aren't expanding when selected. User is browsing with Internet Explorer 8. Solution: Enable Compatibility View in Internet Explorer 8.
Problem: I have an Apple Mac and can't connect to the 'Work From Home System'. Solution: You can connect by downloading the Mac RDC Client, as per these instructions.
Problem: My teacher has assigned Smartboard Notebook (.XBK or .NOTEBOOK) files on Talmos but I can't open them on my home computer. Solution: Download and install the Smartboard Notepad Viewer:
PC >- Download
Mac >- Download
Problem: When you open an Office (Word/Excel/Powerpoint) document from Talmos, a login box appears. Solution: You need to save the file before opening it, as per these instructions.
Problem: My teacher has assigned an Office Document (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher etc) but I don’t have Office installed on my home computer. Solution: Connect to the ‘Work from Home’ (Instructions on the Work from Home system:PC & Mac) system and you can open the documents within the virtual session. Alternatively, students are eligible to purchase the office suite at a heavily discounted rate, found here.
Note that the Microsoft offer will work with valid Ecclesbourne student e-mail addresses despite the offer stating it only works for .ac.uk. addresses.
Problem: When using Exploring Maths, Science or English, the page fails to load. Solution: Log in to the Work from Home system (Instructions on the Work from Home system:PC & Mac), load Internet Explorer within the session and load the software from there.

Problem: I want to print my work from the 'Work From Home' system to my home printer Solution: Within the "Remote Desktop Connection" options select the Printers availability as per these instructions.
Problem: I'm trying to e-mail a student in Microsoft Outlook Web Access, but can't find them on the global address list. Solution: Select "Show other address lists" and select "All Users", as detailed here.
