Course Overview

This creative and thought-provoking qualification gives students the practical skills, theoretical knowledge and confidence to succeed in a number of careers. Especially those in the creative industries.

Students will investigate historical, social, cultural, environmental an economic influences on design and technology, whilst enjoying opportunities to put their learning in to practice by producing products of their choice.

Students will use drawing skills to communicate ideas and develop CAD skills to make realistic products on screen.

Students will gain a real understanding of what it means to be a designer, alongside the knowledge and skills sought by higher education and employers.

Students will have an opportunity to design and make a product based on their own choice and work with a real life client to realise their final product for their NEA.

Where can Product Design take me?

If you want to continue in further study within the fields of Design, Engineering, Product Design or other design related industries. Careers are far reaching and range from industrial or product design, exhibition design, advertising, marketing or sales. A degree in the subject is essential if you wish to enter the field of education.
