This is a course for students who enjoy using computers or who would like to know more about how computers are used in a practical setting. This is very much a 'hand-on' course.
When your attention is captured by a web page advertising a competition, promoting an event or launching a new product, what makes you stop and look? Don't be fooled by technical wizardry. It may have spectacular images, eye-catching animation or attention-grabbing text, but what makes it effective is the way the components work together. The course will give students the knowledge and skills needed to produce attention grabbing web products using web authoring software, multimedia assets and navigation features.
Images of one sort or another are all around us, often influencing what we do and how we think. They are used to communicate messages in different contexts including advertising, music, fashion, interior design, computer games and architecture. We see them everywhere - as we work or study, out shopping or on holiday. This course will give students the skills to use tools and techniques provided by artwork and imaging software to design and create effective graphic products for specified purposes and audiences. Students will investigate a range of graphic products to find out how images are used to convey a particular message.
Practical Examination - Developing Web Products (50%)
Students will demonstrate an ability to design, build and test a web product in a pratical computer-based examination set by Pearson.
Summative Project - Artwork and Imaging (50%)
Students will demonstrate an ability to design, build and test a web product in a practical computer-based examination set by Pearson
Students that study ICT can go on to study it further at both A-Level and beyond. Throughout the course you will develop your ICT skills in a variety of software packages. These key skills will be invaluable in any Level 3 qualification.
